What does it mean to layer clothing?
Layering clothing is a way of getting dressed so that you are prepared for cold weather. You start with multiple layers, and as you warm up you can remove a layer(s). A good base layer of long underwear is important, but cotton is not recommended as it does not wick moisture. You will also want protection from the wind; so pack wind pants, windbreaker, gloves and headband.

What will the accommodations be like?
DMY retreats are held at resorts and spas in spectacular places, around the world. Each retreat is unique, honoring the season and splendor of nature. In fact, returning DMY guests enjoy a different experience each time.  Imagine waking up to magnificent mountains, hiking through wildflowers, or cycling on cobblestone streets. Join us for an all-inclusive adventure, guided by caring experts, tailored to your goals.

What will a typical day be like?
Our day starts out around 7:30am with breakfast, and by 9am we are out to play! We like to start our outdoor activities (i.e., be at the trail head) by no later than 10am. We will break to savor an energy-boosting lunch around noon, and typically end outdoor activities around 3-4pm. We then head back to the Ranch for a quick afternoon snack and an empowering yoga session. We will then break away for dinner, relaxation, and evening activities, often a stargazing hike or bonfire. Please keep in mind that you don not have to do everything! We support and encourage you to find the level of activity that is energizing for your body and mind.

Am I in good enough shape to participate?
Yes! We adapt to all levels of fitness. Our instructors assist both beginning and experienced participants. We will teach you all you need to know to have fun! You definitely do not need to have experience in yoga to participate in the yoga classes. A variety of trail/route options are available, depending on each person’s comfort level. We do suggest that you start a training or workout program long before you come so that you can get the most out of the retreat. It does not need to be a hard core program, just get out and play and be active a few days a week.

What about the staff?
The staff is an inspiring, spirited, and friendly group of athletes who both love to teach people about sports and the mountains. You will receive cutting-edge instruction with heartfelt support and encouragement. There will be opportunity for individual guidance, safe supervision of all activities, and personal attention to your needs. Don’t worry if this is your first time on skis, snowshoe, or doing yoga, we love to introduce people to these activities.

Where is the Ranch located?
The Ranch is located at the top of South Fork Mountain in Pendleton County, WV, about 2 ½ hours from Washington, DC, 45 mins. west of Harrisonburg, VA.

What time will the retreat start/end?
We will begin at 5:00pm on Friday and conclude by 12:00pm on Sunday. We suggest that you make arrangements to leave the DC area by no later than 2:00pm to avoid Friday traffic.

What is the reservation and cancellation policy?
