Stephanie Chin
My name is Stephanie Chin. I’ve been working as a hairstylist for over 14 years. My job is physical and I needed to find a way to counterbalance the stress that I put on my body. I had taken a few basic yoga classes prior to coming to DMY but was not convinced that yoga was for me. I didn’t feel the challenge or satisfaction that I get when I run, hike, or scuba dive. I wanted to find something that was beneficial physically and enjoyable.
My first practice at DMY was an intense experience. I felt challenged, stretched, centered, sweaty and I LIKED every bit of it! I continued practicing and found that I became more balanced, flexible and stronger. I began to love yoga; it makes me feel like I’m doing my body a favor.
I mostly look forward to hitting the mat but there are times where being lazy comes too easy for me. Volunteering is a way for me to stay committed to my practice. Since I’ve been a volunteer I began taking my practice to heart and have become involved in the yoga community, a community that has become a very positive force in my life.
