During the summer of 2009, a friend of mine suggested that I come to a yoga class with her at Dancing Mind Yoga. At the time, I considered myself a yogi – periodically dropping in to yoga studios while I was in college and practicing yoga with my mom, when I was younger. Little did I realize what it feels like to be a more dedicated yogi- regularly practicing Baron Baptiste yoga- something I had never done before. After my first class, I knew I wanted to come back for more. When I am in the studio, I am overwhelmed with happiness, energy and a sense of calm. Yoga has grounded me, taught me to breathe and laugh through life’s highs and lows.
In May 2009, I graduated from the University of Virginia and spent my summer working on an organic farm in northern California; downward dogging in zucchini fields. I care deeply about environmental sustainability and have worked at non-profit conservation organizations and the government to implement environmental policy. I look forward to seeing you on your mat at Dancing Mind and hearing about your own life story. It has been a pleasure to meet so many kindhearted people in the yoga studio.
