Weekly Series: Learn To Meditate – Drop-ins welcome!

Dive deeper into the realms of your mind! Meditation is the art of looking inside and discovering one’s own inner being. Meditation leads us not only to totally new inner experiences, but helps us also to transform our day-to-day life into a better, more meaningful and more fulfilling existence. Each class will focus on pranayama breathing techniques to use throughout the day, in-the-moment to instantly relax the chattering mind, relive negative emotions (anger, anxiety, regret, fear, etc.) & re-energize . We will finish with a Deep Guided Relaxation Meditation to prepare us to flow into the week ahead. All Levels are welcomed.
This is a 12 Week Course, starting Sundays January 10 – February 28th, 2010, from 6pm – 7 pm. Kids Yoga Series is back!

January 16th – March 6th, 2010
This workshop series is designed to give kids the opportunity to explore the benefits of yoga. A consistent yoga practice for children has been shown to increase focus, self-confidence, and overall physical fitness. In this workshop, kids will learn several breathing techniques which they can use outside of the yoga studio to help them deal with stress, focus on their mind, and feel calm. They will also learn basic yoga postures through games, music and fun. Yoga postures will focus on building strength, balance and flexibility. Kids will learn about cooperation, community, focus, inner strength, and acceptance by developing their own yoga practice.
This is a series of 8 classes.
Cost: Early Bird by 1/8/2010 $165, regular $185, includes all 8 classes. Drop in rate is $25. A minimum of 8 students is required.

What goes where? What rotates which way? What muscles and joints do what? Do you want to understand Mula Bandha, Udyana Bandha, and Ujjaii Breath? Your poses don’t need to be perfect, but they do need to be healthy. These principles will help you better understand the mechanics of what you are striving for when you get on your mat. This workshop will help bring you back to your natural and ideal alignment. This course is designed for those looking to ease into a stronger, deeper and safer practice.

Regardless of your level of experience, this program will reveal mental clarity, lightness of body, and an illumination of spirit. In this Program you will: PRACTICE: Participants are required to have 6 days of asana practice. MEDITATE: There will be a practice of meditation, twice daily, with increasing sitting times as the weeks progress. CLEANSE: Each of the six weeks will focus on a weekly dietary awareness theme centered around discovering and practicing a vibrant new health for the physical body. The fourth week’s dietary awareness practice includes a three day fruit cleanse. Participants are highly encouraged to attend all 6 PROGRAM GROUP MEETINGS: Wednesday 8:00 PM – 9:00 PM. (3/3, 3/10, 3/17, 3/24, 3/31 , 3/7 2009) We will gather for a holistic life coaching session. Program starts March1 and ends April 9, 2010.

March 13: Unlock & Unwind: A Neck and Shoulders Workshop

Join visiting teacher Nikki Saks. Relax tense shoulders, Increase neck mobility, Increase shoulder mobility, Increase arm strength, Enhance your breathing… This workshop is ideal for those with neck and shoulder tension/pain, stress headaches, and/or overall stress or anxiety. In this workshop, you will learn about your posture and breath in relation to your shoulder girdle and neck. Your exploration will include yoga asanas, breathing exercises, somatic movement explorations, and study of anatomy. This workshop is appropriate for those who have long standing shoulder injuries, but is not appropriate for those in an acute, inflamed stage of injury. This workshop is open to All Level students; some yoga experience is recommended.

108 Sun Salutations – A Yoga Mala Fundraiser for Hera Climb4Life!

Join DMY Instructors for an special afternoon and help us Celebrate Life! Challenge yourself by doing 108 Sun Salutations and help the HERA Women’s Cancer Foundation fight ovarian cancer! By participating in HERA Climb4Life Yoga Mala, you can help save lives. Registration fees and donations support ovarian cancer research at major institutions such as Johns Hopkins Medicine, Baltimore, MD. Climb4Life participants have educated thousands of people about ovarian cancer symptoms and have enabled women to be proactive about their health. Join us as we come together in spirit and energy. A yoga mala is a powerful and moving event. All yoga student levels are welcome. Bring your friends, co-workers, and family, this will be a special event. (Students not participating in Climb4Life may join the Mala for a $20 donation.)

Mama-Shanti! A Pre-Natal Yoga Workshop
Learn to Practice Safely and Effectively During your Pregnancy, with Tara Rice

Join Tara Rice for a two-hour prenatal yoga workshop. While yoga offers many health benefits to pregnant women, and may be safely practiced throughout a pregnancy, adjusting one’s practice for pregnancy requires special attention. As Patricia Walden advises, it is important during pregnancy to “do poses that help create space between the rib cage and abdomen, which will increase the comfort level and create more room for the baby.” This two hour class will feature a 90 minute Baptiste Vinyasa practice tailored to pregnancy. Pregnant women will learn how to modify poses so that they can practice safely in a regular yoga class. We’ll also practice poses that are beneficial for pregnant women, and that provide comfort. We will end the workshop with 30 minutes of Q&A. The workshop is appropriate for women at all stages of pregnancy, who have been practicing yoga for at least three months.

A word from Stacy: I have been a student and teacher of Yoga for 10 yrs. I discovered Baptiste Power Yoga in 2005 and knew I was home. This is REAL YOGA for REAL PEOPLE. I will not ask you to chant or take your foot behind your head, there is nothing mystical or magical about what I teach. I WILL ask that you show up and challenge yourself like never before. I will offer you a practice that will allow your most powerful self to shine! All you have to do is get on your mat, get willing and get READY! I am a certified Baptiste teacher and have trained many teachers and students to share this practice. I travel world wide with Baron Baptiste assisting him at his teacher trainings and bootcamps. I’ve spent over 1000 hours in training and or assisting with Baron. If I’m not at the studio or away on a bootcamp, you can find me hanging out with my husband Dave and my 3 kids, Jake-12, Kera-11 and Luke-9.
